Florida’s main attraction — its beaches — are in danger of disappearing.

In February 2017, Sen. Marco Rubio introduced the “Sand Acquisition, Nourishment and Development Act” or SAND Act in attempt to reverse the erosion issues on the Sunshine State’s coastline. It would allow for the purchase of foreign sand, which is currently prohibited.

As of August 2018, the bill is still pending.
