Ultra Music Festival hits Miami; USA wins World Baseball Classic; Girl prescribed Zoloft before suicide

Good morning South Florida! Today is Friday, March 24. Miami is expected to have a high of 76 and a low of 69 with possible showers or thunderstorms, while Key West will be sunny with a high of 77 and a low of 70. Fort Lauderdale is expected to have scattered showers with a high of 76 and a low of 69, while those in Naples should expect partly cloudy skies with a high of 82 and a low of 63.   • City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado finally had a face-off at city hall against Airbnb. Regalado speaks for many concerned citizens that believe the company is operating as clandestine competition pleaded for relief. Regalado deems the short-term rental of these properties as illegal, but many property owners are urging the city commissions to reject the mayor’s ideology of the business. Miami Herald
  • Miami is preparing for its annual Ultra Music Festival in Bayfront Park which will take place this weekend from Friday to Sunday. The festival is expecting to see over 165,000 attendees over the course of three days. With hotel occupancy in the area at 98 percent, it is recommended to avoid the area unless you are attending the event. 7 News Miami 
  • Miami Marlins Christian Yelich and Giancarlo Stanton along with other MLB stars helped Team USA capture its first World Baseball Classic title Thursday night with an 8-0 victory over Puerto Rico. Yelich and Stanton both contributed a pair of hits in the championship clinching game. They’ll now look to prepare for the Marlins’ season opener against the Washington Nationals. CBS Miami 
  • A 12-year-old South Florida girl who hung herself and streamed it on Facebook in January was given a prescribed drug with a suicide warning on it. Naika Venant was prescribed an anti-depressant called Zoloft, which comes with a warning of increased risk of suicide in children. Miami Herald 
  • Broward County officials said they seized 36 guns, cash and drugs from a beach storage unit on Wednesday night. Scott Fernandez, 46, was arrested for selling drugs from his home and from the storage unit, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Team. 7 News Miami
