Former SFNS editor wins Hearst Award for bridge collapse coverage

A spring graduate has received a Hearst Award -- the equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize in college journalism --  for breaking news coverage of the Florida International University bridge collapse, the first such prize for the school in two decades. Broward County students walk out to honor Stoneman Douglas shooting [Video]

On Feb. 21, hundreds of Broward County students walked out of their classrooms, showing support for Marjory Stoneman Douglas High as well as protesting gun violence generally.  Piper High School in Sunrise organized “#MSDStrong Remembrance Week” with the help of Susan Ortiz, an English teacher.
