Last weekend, the Panthers fell to the University of Miami 31-17. With the defeat still fresh, SFNS asked students about their thoughts on the game. Many said they were not surprised.
“I was expecting FIU to lose,” said Giovanni Borgeat.
He said still enjoyed the game as much.
“Definitely one of the biggest games, a classic,” he said.
Some students were a bit more hopeful.
“I was rooting for FIU but I wasn’t expecting to win,” said Angelica De Rezende, “I tried to have faith.”
The competition between FIU and the Miami Hurricanes has been a long-standing one, with some friends being on opposite sides.
“I have a lot of friends who are UM fans. But I wanted FIU to win to throw it in their face,” said Nelson Sotomayor.
Though many students expressed either remorse or excitement for the game, others were indifferent.
“I don’t go to games, they’re boring,” said Isabella Costa.
FIU plays University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday at the FIU Stadium on Saturday at 7:30 pm.
