A school shooting occurred at Agape Christian Academy in Pine Hills, Florida, on Oct. 3, 2013, resulting in two wounded.
The shooter, who did not attend the school, shot a 16-year-old football player in the hip and a 17-year-old boy, who also did not attend Agape, according to WESH 2 News. The identities of the victims were not released to the public.
The shooting occurred when students were leaving the parking lot. Detectives said the shooter targeted the football player.
Orange County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jeff Williamson shared some of the county’s preventative measures by email:
- School resource officers participate in firearms-related training sessions throughout the year and tactical-related training, including active-shooter training.
- Reported school threats are closely scrutinized by investigators.
- Security assessments are also conducted in the schools with the cooperation of school administrators.
