The Democratic and Republican nominees for president have millions of supporters — and nearly the same number of detractors. In the run up to the election, South Florida News Service photographer Rodrigo Miragaya captured a number of moments during rallies and political events for Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in South Florida.

On Feb. 15, the community of Parkland held a candlelight vigil at Pine Trails Park for the 17 lives that were lost in the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School the day prior. The event received an extensive amount of attention from various news outlets, which stirred mixed feelings among the grieving students.
